Important Notice for All Students and Members (Effective September 2025):
All students must complete a one-time registration to ensure compliance with updated BKK (British Karate Kyokushinkai) and BMABA (British Martial Arts and Boxing Association) standards, as well as for insurance and tracking purposes.
Navigate to our Online Club Registration Form.
Log into your Google account if prompted.
Complete the Google Form:
Fill out all required fields (including the optional ones).
The following documents will need to be filled and uploaded to the form (or provided to the instructor separately):
Assumption of Risk Form:
For Adults: Adult Assumption of Risk and Liability Waiver
For Children: Child Assumption of Risk and Parental Consent Form
Not Sure? Use the General Assumption of Risk Form
Optional: Photography & Videography Consent Form. This form allows participants to explicitly express their interest or approve their inclusion in photos, videos, and other marketing content created during training. By default, all participants are considered to have consented to such media being created and used for promotional purposes. If you wish to opt out, please inform the instructor in writing so we can update your student record accordingly.
Repeat for each student you register.
You will receive a Welcome Email listing the next steps within 48 hours.
Alternative Option: If you are experiencing issues with the online registration process, print the Complete Registration Form (or request a copy from the instructor), fill it out, sign it, and either submit it to the instructor in person or scan and email it to The Absolute Yin. Make sure a copy of your ID is added to the form before submitting.
All students must be registered with the BKK (British Karate Kyokushinkai) affiliation.
Note: Not being licensed with the BKK doesn’t prevent you from attending classes, but does exclude you from official BKK events such as: pre-grading and other educational courses, tournaments, summer camps, recognitions, and grading.
New students who aren't yet registered with the BKK (i.e. do not have a BKK License Book and License Number) are required to apply for a new license by filling out an L1/L2 Form (L1 for seniors, and L2 for juniors), and pay the new member registration fee.
Students who are currently registered with the BKK (i.e. have a BKK License Book and License Number) are required to renew their membership and pay a renewal fee on an annual basis. BKK Licenses are to be renewed every year, starting the 1st of May.
Returning students whose circumstances have changed, or who took a long break from training, are required to fill out an L4 Form, and pay a membership renewal fee.
While student insurance is not a legal requirement in the UK, it is strongly recommended that students obtain their own insurance cover. The most common ones are: Student Public Liability (SPL) and Personal Accident (PA) insurances. This may be arranged independently or, if preferred, through the instructor. Affiliation and student membership fees include both Public Liability (3rd Party) and member-to-member insurance, covering the club, instructor, and students during training. However, students may choose to purchase additional personal insurance, which is strongly recommended for national and international tournaments.
Student Public Liability (SPL) - Covers other people and their property.
Example:
Alice accidentally kicks too hard during sparring and breaks Bob’s nose.
Bob sues Alice for medical costs.
SPL covers the claim and legal costs, so Alice doesn’t have to pay out of pocket.
Personal Accident Insurance - Covers you.
Example:
Alice lands badly during training and dislocates her shoulder (no one else at fault).
She needs surgery, physiotherapy, and misses work.
Personal Accident pays Alice directly (a lump sum or weekly allowance, depending on policy).
